Exemestane Impurities
Exemestane is a selective, irreversible aromatase inhibitor used primarily in the treatment of estrogen receptor-positive (ER+) breast cancer in postmenopausal women. By inhibiting aromatase, an enzyme responsible for converting androgens into estrogens, exemestane reduces estrogen levels, thereby limiting the hormone's ability to promote the growth of estrogen-dependent breast cancer cells. It is typically used as an adjuvant therapy following surgery or radiation therapy to reduce the risk of recurrence and is also prescribed for metastatic breast cancer. Exemestane’s action helps to reduce estrogen-driven tumor growth, making it a key therapeutic agent in endocrine-based cancer treatments.
