Pantoprazole Impurities
Pantoprazole is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) used to treat conditions like gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, and stomach ulcers. It works by blocking the proton pumps in the stomach lining, reducing the production of stomach acid. This helps alleviate symptoms such as heartburn, acid regurgitation, and pain caused by ulcers. Pantoprazole is typically taken orally in tablet form or intravenously in a hospital setting. Common side effects include headache, diarrhea, and nausea. Long-term use may increase the risk of fractures, kidney problems, or vitamin B12 deficiency. It is usually prescribed for short-term management.
