CCR
CCR (C-C chemokine receptor) refers to a group of receptors that are part of the larger family of G protein-coupled receptors, specifically binding and responding to chemokines. These receptors play crucial roles in the immune system, mediating the migration and activation of immune cells in response to inflammation or infection. Among the well-known types are CCR5 and CCR2, which are implicated in various inflammatory and autoimmune diseases, as well as in HIV infection, where CCR5 serves as a critical co-receptor for viral entry into host cells. Targeting CCRs, particularly CCR5, with antagonists can help in treating such conditions by blocking inappropriate immune cell migration or viral entry.
