GnRH Receptor
The Gonadotropin-Releasing Hormone (GnRH) receptor is a G protein-coupled receptor located on the surface of pituitary gland cells. It binds GnRH, a hormone crucial for the reproductive system, which stimulates the release of luteinizing hormone (LH) and follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) from the anterior pituitary. These hormones are essential for gonadal function and reproductive health. GnRH receptors are targets for therapeutic agents in conditions such as prostate cancer, breast cancer, endometriosis, and fertility disorders. Drugs that modulate this receptor can either stimulate its action to treat infertility or inhibit it to manage hormone-sensitive cancers or conditions associated with excessive hormone production.
