It is an intermediate in the metabolism of phytosphingosine to odd-numbered fatty acids. 2-hydroxy Palmitic acid levels in yeast fermentations increase following treatment with fumonisin B<sub>1</sub> (Item No. <span class=/itemid/>62580</span>).
