2-oxo Clopidogrel is an intermediary metabolite of clopidogrel (Item No. <span class=/itemid/>13657</span>). Clopidogrel is a prodrug that is converted to its active metabolite <em>via</em> two sequential oxidative steps. The first step leads to formation of 2-oxo clopidogrel, followed by conversion to the active metabolite, which binds specifically and irreversibly to the platelet P2Y12 purinergic receptor, inhibiting ADP-mediated platelet activation and aggregation.
