2,4-Dinitrofluorobenzene, also known as Sanger’s reagent, is a chemical compound widely used in biochemical research, particularly for the identification and labeling of amino acids and peptides. It reacts with free amino groups to form stable dinitrophenyl (DNP) derivatives, allowing for the analysis of amino acid sequences in proteins. This reagent was historically used in sequencing techniques to determine the terminal amino acids of peptides.
