Triiodothyronine (Cat No.:R000993) is a biologically active thyroid hormone that plays a crucial role in regulating metabolism, growth, and development. It is produced primarily through peripheral conversion of thyroxine (T4) and acts by binding to nuclear thyroid hormone receptors, influencing gene expression. T3 increases basal metabolic rate, protein synthesis, and sensitivity to catecholamines. Clinically, it is used to treat hypothyroidism and certain thyroid-related disorders. Due to its potent physiological effects, precise dosing and monitoring are essential to avoid adverse effects.
