Allophycocyanin (APC Dye) is a light-harvesting protein, containing strongly coupled dimers of chromophores. Allophycocyanin serve as a minimal system to examine photosynthetic energy transfer. Allophycocyanin strongly absorbs far-red light (FRL), and expresses during acclimation to low light, likely associates with chlorophyll a-containing photosystem I[1][2].
