Aureothricin(Cat No.:R000141)is an antibiotic derived from Streptomyces species, notable for its activity against Gram-positive bacteria. As an early example of thiopeptide antibiotics, it functions by inhibiting protein synthesis, ultimately preventing bacterial growth. While it shows limited activity against Gram-negative bacteria, Aureothricin has been valuable in researching antibiotic mechanisms and in developing newer antibiotics with similar structures. Although less commonly used in clinical settings today due to newer antibiotics, it remains significant in the study of antimicrobial resistance and in pharmaceutical research on thiopeptide antibiotic efficacy.
