AZD7986, also known as Danirixin, is a selective inhibitor of the CXC chemokine receptor 2 (CXCR2), a receptor involved in the recruitment of neutrophils to sites of inflammation. It was developed primarily for the treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and other inflammatory conditions. By inhibiting CXCR2, AZD7986 reduces neutrophil migration and inflammation, potentially alleviating symptoms in diseases characterized by excessive neutrophil infiltration. It has been studied in clinical trials for its efficacy and safety in treating inflammatory diseases.
