Bio-AMS(CAT: I040958) is a potent inhibitor of bacterial biotin protein ligase, exhibiting selective activity against Mycobacterium tuberculosis (Mtb). By inhibiting this enzyme, Bio-AMS disrupts fatty acid and lipid biosynthesis, essential processes for Mtb survival. It has demonstrated significant antitubercular activity against both drug-sensitive and multidrug-resistant Mtb strains, with minimum inhibitory concentrations (MICs) ranging from 0.16 to 0.625 μM. Notably, Bio-AMS’s efficacy is not influenced by variations in primary carbon sources. In studies involving Mtb-infected mouse macrophages, Bio-AMS inhibited bacterial growth in a concentration-dependent manner without exhibiting mitochondrial toxicity. These properties make Bio-AMS a valuable tool for tuberculosis research and the development of novel antimicrobial therapies.
