4,4/’-Dicyanobenzhydrol is a major oxidative metabolite of letrozole (Item No. <span class=/itemid/>11568</span>). Letrozole is a potent, cell-permeable inhibitor of aromatase (IC<sub>50</sub> = 2 nM), a cytochrome P450 family member (designated CYP19) which catalyzes the conversion of androgens to estrogens. 4,4/’-Dicyanobenzhydrol is a weak inhibitor of CYP2B6 and CYP2C19 (K<sub>i</sub>s = 40 and 4.5 µM <em>in vitro</em>, respectively).
