C-82 is a potent and selective small molecule inhibitor of heat shock protein 90 (HSP90), a chaperone protein involved in stabilizing client proteins required for tumor cell survival. By binding to the ATP-binding site of HSP90, C-82 disrupts its chaperone activity, leading to the degradation of oncogenic client proteins. This mechanism of action makes C-82 a promising candidate for cancer therapy, especially in targeting cancers that are dependent on HSP90 for the maintenance of key signaling pathways.
