Calcium Levofolinate(Cat No.:A000889), also known as leucovorin calcium, is the calcium salt form of folinic acid, a derivative of folic acid. It is used in combination with chemotherapeutic agents like methotrexate to reduce toxicity or enhance the efficacy of drugs like 5-fluorouracil (5-FU) in cancer treatment. Calcium Levofolinate rescues normal cells from the toxic effects of methotrexate by replenishing folate stores, thereby protecting healthy cells during chemotherapy. It also enhances 5-FU’s effectiveness by stabilizing the bond between 5-FU and thymidylate synthase, amplifying its anticancer activity.
