Cisd2 agonist 2 (CAT: I040884) is an orally active activator of Cisd2, with an EC50 of 191 nM. Cisd2 is involved in the regulation of mitochondrial function, and its levels have been correlated with nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). By activating Cisd2, this compound may help modulate lipid metabolism and mitochondrial homeostasis, potentially offering therapeutic benefits in NAFLD. In vivo studies in Cisd2hKO-het mice, which are heterozygous for hepatocyte-specific Cisd2 knockout, show no significant toxicity, indicating its safety profile for potential use in liver-related diseases.
