Clinafloxacin（Cat No.:A000236）is a fluoroquinolone antibiotic with broad-spectrum activity against a range of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, including resistant strains. It inhibits bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, enzymes essential for DNA replication and transcription, leading to bacterial cell death. Clinafloxacin was initially promising for treating severe infections like respiratory and intra-abdominal infections, as well as hospital-acquired infections. However, its development faced setbacks due to adverse side effects, particularly photosensitivity and hypoglycemia.
