Clofilium tosylate (CAT: I019516) is a potassium channel blocker primarily used as an antiarrhythmic agent. It selectively inhibits the rapid component of the delayed rectifier potassium current (IKr) in cardiac cells, prolonging the cardiac action potential duration. By blocking these potassium channels, Clofilium tosylate helps stabilize the electrical activity of the heart and can be effective in treating certain types of cardiac arrhythmias, including atrial fibrillation. However, due to its potential proarrhythmic effects, its use is restricted and requires careful monitoring. Clofilium tosylate has also been studied for its potential anticancer properties and has shown inhibitory effects on tumor cell growth and migration.
