Descarboxymethyl Treprostinil is a metabolite of Treprostinil, a prostacyclin analogue used in the treatment of pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH). This metabolite results from the removal of the carboxyl group from Treprostinil, and it retains some of the pharmacological activities of the parent compound, including vasodilation and inhibition of platelet aggregation. While its exact therapeutic role is less pronounced compared to Treprostinil, descarboxymethyl Treprostinil may still contribute to the overall efficacy and duration of action of Treprostinil in patients. It is studied for its relevance in drug metabolism, pharmacokinetics, and therapeutic impact in PAH treatment.
