EC359 (CAT: I017880) is a potent and selective inhibitor of leukemia inhibitory factor receptor (LIFR). It binds directly to LIFR, effectively blocking the interactions between LIF (leukemia inhibitory factor) and LIFR. In preclinical studies, EC359 has shown a dose-dependent reduction of cell viability in various cancer cell lines, including breast cancer cells. It promotes apoptosis, inhibits invasion, and reduces the expression of STAT3 target genes. EC359 also inhibits the activation of STAT3 and downstream signaling pathways, including AKT, mTOR, S6, and ERK1/2. In animal studies, EC359 treatment leads to a significant reduction in tumor progression with low toxicity. These findings suggest that EC359 may have potential as a therapeutic agent for cancer, particularly in triple-negative breast cancer.
