Ecteinascidin-Analog-1 (CAT: I005267) is a synthetic derivative of ecteinascidin compounds, originally isolated from the marine tunicate Ecteinascidia turbinata. Like its parent compound trabectedin (ET-743), ET-Analog-1 functions by binding to the minor groove of DNA, causing DNA strand breaks and disrupting the transcription-coupled nucleotide excision repair (TC-NER) pathway. This dual action leads to impaired DNA repair and apoptosis in cancer cells. ET-Analog-1 is being explored in oncology research for its potential to treat various solid tumors, including soft tissue sarcomas and ovarian cancer, by targeting tumor cell proliferation and survival mechanisms.
