Emamectin B1a is a derivative of avermectin, a class of macrocyclic lactone compounds produced by the soil bacterium Streptomyces avermitilis. It is widely used as an insecticide and acaricide in agriculture and aquaculture due to its potent activity against a broad spectrum of pests, particularly caterpillars and other insect larvae.
