Etosalamide (Cat No.: I001911) is a carbonic anhydrase inhibitor used primarily as a diuretic and in the treatment of glaucoma, epilepsy, and altitude sickness. By inhibiting carbonic anhydrase, it reduces the formation of bicarbonate ions, leading to decreased aqueous humor production in the eye and reduced intraocular pressure. Additionally, it promotes renal excretion of bicarbonate, sodium, and water, contributing to its diuretic effect. Etosalamide is chemically related to sulfonamides and may exhibit similar side effects, including allergic reactions in sensitive individuals.
