FlAsH-EDT2 (Fluorescein Arsenical Hairpin binder-2, or Fluorescein Arsenical Helix binder-2) is a biarsenical fluorescent dye used in molecular and cellular biology for the detection of specific protein motifs in living cells. It specifically binds to tetracysteine (Cys-Cys-Xaa-Xaa-Cys-Cys) sequences engineered into proteins of interest. Upon binding to these motifs, FlAsH-EDT2 emits a green fluorescent signal, allowing real-time visualization of protein localization, trafficking, and interactions in live cells. The use of FlAsH-EDT2 is particularly valuable in studying dynamic cellular processes because it provides a non-invasive method for labeling and tracking proteins without disrupting their function. However, due to its arsenic content, careful handling and experimental controls are required.
