Flucloxacillin(Cat No.:I006808)is a semi-synthetic beta-lactam antibiotic used primarily to treat infections caused by Gram-positive bacteria, particularly Staphylococcus aureus (including methicillin-sensitive strains). It works by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis through binding to penicillin-binding proteins, ultimately causing bacterial cell lysis. Flucloxacillin is effective against skin, soft tissue, and respiratory tract infections. It is resistant to beta-lactamase enzymes, which makes it particularly useful in treating penicillin-resistant staphylococcal infections. It is often administered orally or intravenously and is commonly used in clinical settings for infections requiring broad-spectrum beta-lactam antibiotics.
