Folitixorin(CAT: I010183), also known as leucovorin calcium or calcium folinate, is a derivative of folic acid. It serves as a metabolic precursor in the synthesis of thymidylate and purine nucleotides. Folitixorin is commonly used as a rescue agent in high-dose methotrexate therapy to reduce toxic effects and enhance the efficacy of the treatment. It acts by bypassing the dihydrofolate reductase (DHFR) step, allowing the production of necessary cellular components. Additionally, folitixorin is utilized in the treatment of certain types of anemia and as adjuvant therapy in colorectal cancer.
