Furanodienone (CAT: I017934) is a major bioactive constituent derived from Rhizoma Curcumae. It has been found to induce apoptosis in various cancer cell lines. In vitro, studies have shown that furanodienone exhibits dose-dependent inhibitory effects on cell viability, with IC50 values ranging from 56.4 μM to 573.8 μM depending on the cell line and duration of treatment. Furanodienone treatment also leads to an increase in caspase-9 and caspase-3 activity, indicating activation of apoptotic pathways. The apoptotic rates are significantly increased in both RKO and HT-29 cells in a dose-dependent manner. These findings suggest that furanodienone has the potential as an apoptosis-inducing compound with anticancer properties.
