Guanabenz hydrochloride(CAT: I011430) has been studied for its potential antiparasitic activity. In particular, guanabenz hydrochloride has been shown to inhibit the growth of the protozoan parasite Trypanosoma cruzi, which is the causative agent of Chagas disease. Guanabenz hydrochloride works by inducing endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress and triggering the unfolded protein response (UPR) in the parasite, leading to parasite death.
