HMBS (Hydroxymethylbilane synthase)（Cat No.:I042697）, also known as Porphobilinogen deaminase (PBGD), is an enzyme involved in the heme biosynthesis pathway. It catalyzes the conversion of porphobilinogen (PBG) to hydroxymethylbilane, a crucial step in the production of heme, the oxygen-carrying molecule in red blood cells. Mutations in the HMBS gene can lead to porphyria, a group of disorders characterized by abnormal porphyrin production. The human HMBS/Porphobilinogen deaminase protein (N-His) is often produced with a histidine tag (N-His) for easier purification in laboratory settings, enabling research into its structure and function.
