Hycanthone(Cat No.:I007230)is an antischistosomal agent used in the treatment of schistosomiasis, a parasitic infection caused by Schistosoma species. It works by interfering with the parasite’s DNA and RNA synthesis, leading to impaired metabolism and eventual death. Hycanthone has also been studied for its potential mutagenic properties and effects on mammalian cells. Although largely replaced by safer alternatives like praziquantel, it remains a valuable compound in parasitology research. Hycanthone is used to explore the mechanisms of antiparasitic drugs and to study host-parasite interactions in neglected tropical diseases.
