Hydroxyitraconazole(Cat No.:M095098) is a major metabolite of itraconazole, an antifungal medication widely used to treat a range of fungal infections. This metabolite is produced in the liver through the cytochrome P450 enzyme system. Hydroxyitraconazole retains much of the parent drug’s pharmacological activity, contributing significantly to the therapeutic efficacy observed with itraconazole treatment. Like itraconazole, hydroxyitraconazole works by inhibiting the fungal enzyme lanosterol 14α-demethylase, which is essential for the synthesis of ergosterol, a key component of fungal cell membranes. This inhibition disrupts cell membrane integrity, leading to fungal cell death.
