Kresoxim-methyl is a broad-spectrum fungicide used in agriculture to protect crops from a variety of fungal diseases. It belongs to the strobilurin class of fungicides, which inhibit mitochondrial respiration by blocking electron transfer in the cytochrome b complex. This action prevents the fungi from producing energy, leading to their death. Kresoxim-methyl is particularly effective against powdery mildew, rusts, and other fungal pathogens affecting fruits, vegetables, cereals, and ornamental plants. It is valued for its long-lasting protection and preventive action. However, as with other strobilurins, resistance management strategies are important to maintain its efficacy over time.
