L-Homopropargyl Glycine(CAT: I011776), also known as L-HPG, is a non-proteinogenic amino acid and a synthetic compound. It is an analog of the amino acid glycine, with an additional propargyl group attached to the nitrogen atom of the amino group. L-HPG has been studied for its potential use as a chemical tool in biological research, particularly in the study of protein synthesis and post-translational modifications. It can be incorporated into proteins via the cellular machinery that normally processes glycine, allowing for the selective labeling and detection of proteins that contain L-HPG. Additionally, L-HPG has been shown to have neuroprotective properties and may have therapeutic potential in the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s.
