meso-Tetra(N-methyl-2-pyridyl)porphine tetrachloride(Cat No.:M135595), also known as N-methyl meso-tetraphenyl porphine tetrachloride or simply “N-methyl TPP”, is a porphyrin derivative with four N-methyl-2-pyridyl substituents attached to the meso positions of the porphyrin ring. This compound is used in chemistry and biology as a model compound for studying porphyrin chemistry and as a photosensitizer in photodynamic therapy (PDT) due to its ability to generate singlet oxygen upon light activation. N-methyl TPP is also used in the synthesis of various porphyrin derivatives and as a catalyst in organic reactions.
