ML418(CAT: I018144) is a chemical compound known as a blocker of the Kir7.1 potassium channel. It is the first potent, selective, and central nervous system (CNS) penetrating inhibitor of the Kir7.1 channel. ML418 exhibits an IC50 value of 310 nM for blocking Kir7.1 channels. Additionally, ML418 also shows potent inhibition of Kir6.2/SUR1 channels. It is worth noting that ML418 demonstrates superior selectivity over other Kir channels, indicating its specificity for Kir7.1 and Kir6.2/SUR1. The selective inhibition of these potassium channels by ML418 may have implications in the study of ion channel function and the development of therapeutic strategies targeting these channels.
