Nicodan(CAT: I033263) is a pharmaceutical compound traditionally used as a lipid-lowering agent to help manage hyperlipidemia and reduce elevated cholesterol and triglyceride levels. It is believed to function similarly to niacin (vitamin B3) derivatives by inhibiting the synthesis of very-low-density lipoproteins (VLDL) in the liver, thereby lowering low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol and triglycerides while increasing high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol. Nicodan has been used in the prevention and treatment of cardiovascular diseases linked to dyslipidemia. However, detailed pharmacological information is limited, and its usage may have been replaced by more effective and better-tolerated lipid-lowering therapies like statins.
