NS 11021 (CAT: I011030) is an activator of large-conductance Ca2+-activated potassium channels (BKCa, KCa1.1). This compound specifically targets BKCa channels, inducing their activation. NS 11021 has been shown to modulate the gating kinetics of BKCa channels without affecting single channel conductance. Notably, NS 11021 does not significantly impact various other ion currents such as K+ (KV), Na+, and Ca2+ currents at concentrations below 10 μM. Its selective activation of BKCa channels makes NS 11021 a valuable tool for studying the role of these channels in physiological and pathophysiological processes.
