NS-8(CAT: I012355) is a novel compound that acts as an opener of the large conductance calcium-activated potassium channels (BK(Ca) or maxi-K(+) channels). It specifically activates the calcium-sensitive potassium channel of the bladder, leading to a suppression of the micturition reflex by reducing the activity of the afferent pelvic nerves. NS-8 is used as an activator of the BKCa channel for the treatment of muscular disorders. It offers potential therapeutic benefits in conditions where modulation of potassium channels is desired.
