Pitolisant(CAT: I003332) is a novel and selective nonimidazole inverse agonist at the recombinant human H3 receptor. It acts as a histamine H3 receptor antagonist/inverse agonist, which modulates the release of various neurotransmitters in the brain. Pitolisant has been investigated for its use in the treatment of narcolepsy, a neurological disorder characterized by excessive daytime sleepiness and abnormal sleep-wake cycles. It has shown efficacy in improving wakefulness and reducing excessive daytime sleepiness in patients with narcolepsy. Pitolisant is also being explored for its potential in other sleep disorders and psychiatric conditions.
