Pulsatilla saponin D (CAT: I004555), isolated from the root of Pulsatilla koreana, has shown potential as a chemopreventive agent for cancer. It effectively inhibits the growth of gastric cancer cells and pancreatic cancer cells, inducing apoptosis through mechanisms such as caspase activation and mitochondrial membrane potential disruption. SB365 also exhibits anti-angiogenic activity by reducing the expression of HIF-1α and VEGF. In gastric cancer cells, it specifically inhibits the activated form of c-Met, a receptor tyrosine kinase associated with cancer progression. In in vivo studies, SB365 demonstrates strong anticancer activity by inhibiting tumor growth, inducing apoptosis, and inhibiting angiogenesis, surpassing the effectiveness of the chemotherapy drug 5-FU. These findings suggest that Pulsatilla saponin D has the potential as a therapeutic agent for various types of cancer.
