Etomoxir(CAT: I000961) is a cell-permeable and irreversible inhibitor of carnitine palmitoyltransferase (CPT)-1 and diacylglycerol O-acyltransferase (DGAT) activity, operating within the mitochondria of rat heart H9c2 myoblastic cells. It achieves this inhibition with a stereospecific effect at concentrations ranging from 1 to 80 μM for CPT-1 and at 40 μM for DGAT. Through its action, Etomoxir disrupts fatty acid oxidation and triglyceride synthesis, exerting a regulatory influence on cellular energy metabolism.
