rac-Modipafant is a racemic mixture of a drug originally developed as a potent platelet-activating factor (PAF) receptor antagonist. It was investigated for its potential in treating inflammatory and allergic conditions, such as asthma, by blocking the effects of PAF, a key mediator in inflammation and immune responses. Although clinical development of Modipafant was discontinued, its racemic form remains of interest in research for understanding PAF-related pathways and developing new anti-inflammatory therapies. Its study contributes to the broader exploration of PAF antagonists in medical research.
