Sinoporphyrin sodium is a novel photosensitizer used in photodynamic therapy (PDT) for cancer treatment. It selectively accumulates in tumor cells and, upon activation by specific wavelengths of light, generates reactive oxygen species that induce cell death. Sinoporphyrin sodium is studied for its high tumor-targeting ability, low toxicity, and effectiveness in destroying cancer cells while sparing surrounding healthy tissue. Its potential applications include treating various cancers, particularly those accessible to light-based therapies, offering a promising approach in oncology.
