<p>It is an adrenergic and serotonergic stimulant and so it is a CNS stimulant.</p><p>It has antiarrhythmic activities.</p><br />C20-diterpenoid alkaloid<!–C22H31NO3–>, from plants of the <I>Aconitum</I> genus, Ranunculaceae</br><p>Its antiarrhythmic and CNS stimulant effects are 25 times as potent as <strong>Quinidine </strong>and 2 times less toxic. The stimulant effect on the CNS is due to adrenergic and serotonergic stimulation in the reticular formation:</p><p>- it causes desynchronization of cortex and sub-cortex action potential rhythms;</p><p>- it enhances and prolongs the /reaction of activation/ after visual and phonic stimulation;</p><p>- it suppresses the electroencephalogram modifications due to intravenous injection of 2 mg/kg <strong>Chlorpromazine</strong>.</p></br>
