Sordarin(Cat No.:R068763) is a potent bis benzamide-dependent inhibitor of eEF2 (eukaryotic elongation factor 2) with significant antifungal properties. It acts by targeting eEF2 and disrupting protein translation in fungi by blocking the eEF2-mediated translocation of tRNAs during the elongation phase of protein synthesis. This specific translational inhibitory effect is observed in certain fungi, including Candida albicans, Candida glabrata, and Candida neoformans, making it an effective antifungal agent against these species. However, Sordarin does not exhibit the same inhibitory effect on other fungi like Candida para candida and Candida music.
