SSI-4(CAT: I040893) is an inhibitor of Stearoyl-CoA desaturase 1 (SCD1), an enzyme involved in the biosynthesis of monounsaturated fatty acids. By inhibiting SCD1, SSI-4 disrupts lipid metabolism, which can have therapeutic implications in conditions like obesity, insulin resistance, and cancer. When modified with the radioactive isotope 11C, SSI-4 can be used as a ligand in small animal PET/CT imaging, enabling the non-invasive visualization and quantification of SCD1 activity in vivo. This imaging capability makes SSI-4 a valuable tool in metabolic disease research, particularly in studying lipid metabolism and related disorders.
