Sulbactam pivoxil is a proagent of sulbactam. Sulbactam is a β-lactamase inhibitor which poorly adsorbed from gastrointestinal tract. Sulbactam pivoxil has a better absorption than the parent agent and provides high serum levels after oral administration[1].
