T 5601640 (CAT: I011153) is a selective inhibitor of LIM kinase 2 (LIMK2). LIMK2 is a protein kinase involved in the regulation of actin cytoskeleton dynamics through the phosphorylation of cofilin, a key regulator of actin filament turnover. By inhibiting LIMK2, T 5601640 prevents cofilin phosphorylation in cells that overexpress LIMK2, without affecting LIMK1. This inhibition of cofilin phosphorylation leads to the modulation of actin dynamics and cellular processes. T 5601640 has demonstrated the ability to attenuate the growth of several cancer cell lines. In a mouse xenograft model, it reduces phospho-cofilin levels and decreases the tumor size of Panc-1 cells.
