Tecastemizole (Cat No.: I037073) is a long-acting, second-generation antihistamine and a prodrug of astemizole. It selectively inhibits H₁ histamine receptors, reducing allergic symptoms such as rhinitis and urticaria while minimizing sedation due to its poor penetration into the central nervous system. Tecastemizole has been studied for its potential in treating allergic conditions and other inflammatory disorders. However, concerns about cardiotoxicity, particularly QT prolongation and arrhythmia risks, have limited its clinical use. It remains a subject of interest in pharmacological and drug safety research.
