Vacuolin-1(Cat No.:I011596) is a small molecule inhibitor that is used in cellular and molecular biology research to study the function of the endolysosomal pathway. Vacuolin-1 works by selectively inhibiting the activity of vacuolar-type H+-ATPase (V-ATPase), a proton pump that is responsible for the acidification of endolysosomal compartments in cells. By inhibiting V-ATPase, vacuolin-1 can block the normal endolysosomal degradation of cellular components, leading to the accumulation of autophagic vacuoles. Vacuolin-1 has been used in a variety of cellular and animal models to study the roles of endolysosomal trafficking in various biological processes, including autophagy, apoptosis, and membrane trafficking. It has also been investigated for its potential use in the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases such as Parkinson’s disease and Alzheimer’s disease.
